Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is getting married with his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez. They will marry in a Christian ceremony on the CR7’s home island of Madeira next summer, the Jornal da Madeira reported.
They will tie the knot in Funchal’s cathedral after the 2026 World Cup, with the reception taking place at a luxury hotel in the city. This location holds special significance, as it is just a mile and a half from the hospital where Ronaldo was born and three miles from the home of the football team he played for as a child – Nacional da Madeira.
The Ronaldo-Georgina couple met while they were at Real Madrid in 2016. They announced their marriage in August, after nine years of dating.
Ronaldo, 40, recently told Piers Morgan that his proposal was a ‘temporary proposal and not very romantic’, even though a ring worth £1.5 million was part of the proposal. Ronaldo has five children – Alana Martin and Bella Esmeralda with Georgina. Cristiano Jr., born earlier, and two children, Eva and Mateo, born in 2017 via surrogacy. Their newborn son, Angel, tragically died in 2022.
Ronaldo said, “We always support each other. There are good times, there are bad times, that’s part of life. Even in the worst times, you have to be there for each other and keep things smooth.” I have learned a lot. My daughter is now three years old, the queen of the family, who brings joy to the house. Everything happens for a reason. We are a blessed family.
Ronaldo said the wedding plans will be secret and private, as Georgina doesn’t like big talk. He sees her honesty and love as more important than the ring.
